CHANGES!!!

Ring the bell only 3 times during Mass.

   ONCE when the priest extends his hands over the offerings.

   ONCE when the priest elevates the Host.

   ONCE when the priest elevates the Chalice

PROCESSION - ENTRY AND EXIT. Cross Bearer leads. Acolytes follow behind, side by side.

Washing the priest’s fingers. Hold the glass bowl UP so the priest does not have to bend down to you. Pour water gently over his fingers. Lift UP the towel, so he does not have to bend down to get it.

 

Always:

    Arrive 10 minutes early for Mass.

    Check there are 4 servers and fill any gaps.

    Call another server if you will not be attending your assigned Mass.

    Check each other for correct vestment appearance.

    Check that everything is ready for Mass.

    Act with respect for God, the priest and everyone in church.

    Stand, sit, kneel, genuflect and walk as you were taught.

    Watch the priest, to see how you can help him.

Never:

    Rush, run or hurry.

    Walk backwards; instead, turn, take a step, and then turn back.

    Genuflect, when carrying cross or candle.

    Fiddle with your fingers, sash cord or server’s cross.

    Talk, laugh, nudge, point or slouch on the altar.

    Daydream or watch the congregation.

    Leave the sacristy until everything is cleared up and put away.

    Push to get in front of the priest.

 

SERVE GOD.      HELP THE PRIEST.      BE INVISIBLE TO THE PEOPLE.
